Kamareddy chain snatching leaves couple injured after bike skid

Hyderabad: A Kamareddy chain snatching left a couple injured after unidentified assailants pulled a gold chain from a woman’s neck, causing their motorcycle to skid on Saturday night.

The incident occurred in the district headquarters limits. According to police, former MPTC member Kammari Srinivas of Chinnamallareddy village in Kamareddy mandal was travelling with his wife Ananthalakshmi to Juvvadi village in Gandhari mandal.

When they reached near the government school at Devunipalli under Kamareddy municipality, two unidentified persons approached them on another motorcycle. The assailants suddenly yanked the mangalsutra from Ananthalakshmi’s neck.

Due to the sudden pull, the bike lost balance and skidded on the road. As a result, both husband and wife fell down. Srinivas sustained injuries to his face in the fall.

After snatching the chain, the accused fled from the scene. Meanwhile, locals alerted the police about the chain snatching.

Police reached the spot and collected preliminary details. Subsequently, they began examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area to identify the suspects.

Officials said efforts were underway to trace and apprehend the culprits involved in the Kamareddy chain snatching. Further investigation was in progress.
