Technical glitches in EVMs delay voting at several booths in Jubilee Hills by-election

Hyderabad: Polling in the Jubilee Hills by-election began at 7 am on Tuesday, with voters turning out enthusiastically to exercise their franchise. Long queues formed early in the morning at several polling stations, indicating the likelihood of a higher voting percentage this time.

However, technical problems disrupted polling at multiple locations within the constituency. Reports confirmed that EVMs malfunctioned at 11 polling booths, halting the voting process temporarily.

In the Shaikpet division, an EVM at polling booth number 30 stopped working due to a technical snag. A technical team rushed to the spot to restore operations. Similarly, in Srinagar Colony, polling at the Nagarjuna Community Hall was affected by a sudden power outage.

At booth numbers 76 and 78 in the Vengalrao Nagar division, polling had not yet started as the EVMs failed to function properly. The delay led to long queues, and several voters expressed frustration as they waited outside in the morning heat.

Officials work to fix problems and resume polling

Technical teams also reported EVM issues at booths 165 and 166 in Rahmath Nagar. Polling staff immediately informed higher officials, who dispatched engineers to the affected locations.

Election officials said that efforts were underway to resolve all issues quickly and ensure uninterrupted polling across Jubilee Hills. Despite the technical glitches, the overall voting process continued peacefully in other parts of the constituency.
