Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy on Sunday announced his decision to quit the party. He said he could no longer continue due to a lack of respect within the organisation.
Resignation on March 25
He said he will formally resign from his primary membership in the Congress party and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on March 25. He also plans to announce his future political course on the same day.
Cites Lack of Respect
Explaining his decision, Jeevan Reddy said internal issues caused him deep anguish. He stated that he no longer commands respect within the party. This, he said, forced him to take the decision. Therefore, he chose to end his decades-long association.
Key Meeting in Jagtial
He invited party workers and long-time supporters to a key meeting at Bandaru Gardens in Jagtial on March 25. He urged them to share their suggestions before he takes a final call on his political future.
Final Decision After Consultations
Jeevan Reddy said he will hold discussions with close associates and key leaders at the meeting. He noted that many supporters have stood by him for nearly four decades. Their opinions, he said, will shape his next move.
Political Impact
He reiterated that he will take a final decision on the same day. Meanwhile, the announcement has sparked political interest in Telangana. It may trigger a realignment ahead of upcoming elections.
