Hyderabad: Jeedimetla police arrested three men involved in a house burglary at Apuroopa Colony, S R Naik Nagar, recovering ₹2.15 lakh in cash and a stolen mobile phone. The gang had broken into the residence of a milk booth owner, making away with ₹3.5 lakh in cash and a Vivo mobile on July 2.
According to police, complainant Nelage Sangamesh had left home to visit his mother-in-law. His daughter later called him, and on his advice, shut the doors but did not lock them. On returning around 1.15 am, he found his mother and daughter frightened after spotting a stranger leaving the house. The family then noticed the cash and mobile missing.
On July 7, during a vehicle checking drive at Shapurnagar crossroads, the suspects were intercepted while trying to dispose of a stolen phone. Failing to produce proper documents, they were detained. On interrogation, they confessed to the crime.
Police recovered ₹2,15,000 in cash, a Vivo mobile phone, another Samsung mobile, and a white Suzuki Burgman bike used in the offence.
The key accused, Mohammad Asif, a milk vendor, along with two associates, Md Asif and Mohammed Ameer, had targeted his employer’s house knowing the owner’s absence. One suspect entered the house while another stood guard. They fled after the victim’s daughter noticed their presence.
Police said the accused were habitual drinkers and addicted to online betting, leading them to commit the burglary.
