JEE failure drives 17-year-old to suicide at Hyderabad metro station

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old student died by suicide in Hyderabad’s Meerpet area after reportedly failing to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), police said on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Harshith, had been under mental stress for several days. On Friday, he left home pretending to go for coaching but later called his mother to say he was unable to cope with the pressure.

Minutes after the call, he jumped to his death from the Victoria Memorial metro station.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about student mental health and academic stress related to competitive exams.

Meerpet police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
