Jawaharnagar dumping yard issue raised in Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: Medchal MLA and former minister Malla Reddy raised the Jawaharnagar dumping yard issue in the Telangana Assembly, highlighting severe conditions and seeking urgent government intervention.

During a discussion on public issues, Malla Reddy said the dumping yard had turned highly unmanageable. Garbage from across the city reached the site daily, which worsened the situation. Consequently, he said he could not tolerate the foul smell in the area.

He added that the situation caused him distress as the MLA of Medchal. The remark triggered laughter in the House. However, he demanded immediate steps to improve the Jawaharnagar dumping yard and called for its development under a special category.

Jawaharnagar dumping yard impacts Medchal constituency

According to Malla Reddy, the dumping yard problem reflected wider neglect in the constituency. He said Medchal, once a leading constituency, had been fragmented over time.

Earlier, the constituency included 61 villages, three corporations, and seven municipalities. Later, authorities merged all these into GHMC and reduced them to 16 wards. As a result, basic infrastructure declined across several areas.

He said many localities lacked proper drainage systems, roads, and electricity poles. Moreover, some villages still had kutcha houses, which showed uneven development.

dumping yard issue prompts funding demand

Malla Reddy urged district in-charge minister Sridhar Babu to address the dumping yard issue without delay. He appealed for immediate support to resolve local problems.

He also sought special funds from GHMC for the constituency. Such allocations, he said, would help improve civic infrastructure and address long-pending concerns.

Finally, he reiterated that authorities must resolve the Jawaharnagar dumping yard issue quickly. Timely action, he said, would reduce hardships faced by residents living near the site.
