Hyderabad: A theft attempt created alarm at the ancient Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam and a sub-temple at Jainath mandal headquarters on Friday night. Notably, the Jainath temple complex is an important religious site in the region.
Unidentified persons tried to steal a hundial containing devotees’ offerings from a Shivalayalam and the main shrine of Jainath temple. The incident took place between 1.30 am and 2 am. The offenders targeted the temple premises during late night hours and attempted to lift the donation boxes.
Theft attempt foiled at temple premises
The miscreants failed to carry away the hundial and abandoned it inside the temple premises before fleeing. Incidentally, Jainath temple has witnessed similar security concerns in the past.
Following a complaint from local residents, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officers formed special teams to trace those involved in the theft. Teams began scanning CCTV footage from the temple and nearby areas to identify the culprits. Investigators suspected the involvement of three persons from the same village. Further investigation was underway regarding the security.
