Hyderabad: A 42-year-old farmer died of electrocution while assisting in transformer repair work near his village in Jagtial district on Monday. The incident took place in Nancherla village, Pegadapalli mandal.
The deceased, Edla Rajendra Reddy, was reportedly working alongside electricity staff and other local farmers near a transformer when he was fatally shocked. Locals said he had joined the group to help with maintenance when the accident occurred.
However, Rajendra Reddy’s wife, Vijaya, alleged that some farmers from the village forcibly took her husband from their home to the transformer site. According to her, power staff told them the supply had been shut off, prompting Rajendra Reddy to climb the transformer, which led to the fatal shock.
Based on her complaint, Pegadapalli trainee sub-inspector Ravinder Kumar has registered a case and launched an investigation.
