Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials apprehended Jagtial District Transport Officer Banoth Bhadru Naik and his private driver Banoth Aravind for accepting a bribe of ₹22,000 from a complainant in exchange for not filing a vehicle-related case.
According to the ACB, the duo initially demanded ₹40,000 to avoid booking a case, imposing a fine, and to release the complainant’s seized mobile phones. The demand was later negotiated down to ₹35,000, with an initial payment of ₹13,000 made on August 4. The remaining ₹22,000 was accepted before they were caught in the act by ACB officials.
Complainants urged to report bribe demands to the ACB Telangana
The ACB urged citizens to report any bribe demands made by public servants. Complaints can be filed anonymously by calling the toll-free number 1064, via WhatsApp at 9440446106, or through the official website acb.telangana.gov.in. The agency assured that the complainant’s identities would remain confidential.
