HYDERABAD: A gruesome incident has come to light in Jagityal district, where a man allegedly murdered his wife over the absence of children and ongoing dowry harassment.
The accused, identified as Mahender, reportedly hanged his wife Mamatha to death on 24 April at his residence. According to police sources, Mahender had brought Mamatha back to his home before carrying out the murder. The motive, investigators say, stemmed from persistent harassment by Mahender, his parents, and other relatives, who were reportedly pressuring Mamatha over not having children and for additional dowry.
Following the murder, Mahender is said to have filed a missing person’s complaint at the local police station, claiming his wife had disappeared. However, suspicions were raised by neighbours when a foul smell began emanating from Mahender’s house.
Upon investigation, the decomposed body of Mamatha was discovered, confirming fears of foul play. The police have since registered a case and launched a full-scale investigation into the murder.
Kodimyala police are currently questioning Mahender and other family members to uncover the full details surrounding the crime.
