Hyderabad: TPCC working president Jagga Reddy urged the Congress high command to ensure that senior leader Jeevan Reddy receives due respect and faces no humiliation within the party.
He made a specific appeal to party in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud through the media. He said he was expressing his personal view as a Congress worker and leader.
Recalling the political journey of Jeevan Reddy, Jagga Reddy said the party had earlier given him MP and MLA tickets. However, he said circumstances did not favour him and he suffered defeats.
Even so, he pointed out that Jeevan Reddy stayed with the Congress when the party remained in opposition for ten years. During that period, he served as MLA and MLC and continued to work for the organisation.
Jeevan Reddy stood with Congress in difficult times
Jagga Reddy said several political offers had come Jeevan Reddy’s way over the years. Despite that, he chose to remain with the Congress and walked with the party through difficult phases.
Therefore, he said the leadership must act to prevent any embarrassment to Jeevan Reddy. He urged Meenakshi Natarajan and Mahesh Kumar Goud to take initiative in this regard.
He stressed that leaders who stood by the party in tough times deserved recognition. According to him, the party must take adequate precautions to safeguard Jeevan Reddy’s honour.
Jagga Reddy said the leadership should ensure that decisions reflect respect for senior leaders. He added that the party must handle the matter with sensitivity and responsibility.
