Indiramma housing scheme brings homes to 4.5 lakh poor families

Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday said the Indiramma housing scheme is helping thousands of low-income families in Telangana achieve a long-awaited dream. The initiative, he added, offers not just homes but also dignity and self-respect.

The Minister attended housewarming ceremonies in three locations Mangampalli in Wanaparthy, Gadwal in Jogulamba Gadwal district, and Moosapet in Mahabubnagar. He was accompanied by Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Varkati Sreeramulu, along with MLAs Megha Reddy, Krishna Mohan Reddy, Madhusudhan Reddy, and local officials.

Double-bedroom houses completed and distributed

Reddy said the Congress government took over hundreds of abandoned double-bedroom units left incomplete by the previous regime. “We’re not just launching new homes we are also finishing old ones and handing them over to eligible families,” he said.

During the event, officials issued approval letters and DWCRA cheques to the beneficiaries. The ministers also shared a meal with the new homeowners. Reddy said the joy on the women’s faces reflected the emotional impact of finally owning a house.

Transparent allotment, no bias in eligibility

According to the Minister, the government is providing houses without considering caste, religion, political affiliation, or voting history. “Only poverty matters,” he said. “That’s the sole eligibility criterion for Indiramma housing.”

He said the first phase includes 4.5 lakh homes. Each constituency will get 3,500 units, with an extra 1,000 houses for tribal and ITDA regions. The project has a budget of ₹22,500 crore. The state is releasing funds every Monday in a phased and transparent manner.

Congress committed to delivering every promise

Reddy said the government is steadily fulfilling each election promise. He urged people to continue supporting what he called the “Indiramma government.” He concluded by saying that Indiramma housing embodies the Congress vision of inclusive and people-first governance.
