Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said the Indiramma government had focused entirely on the welfare of low-income families in Telangana for the past 22 months.
He was speaking at the Palair reservoir in Kusumanchi mandal, where he released fish seedlings as part of a livelihood initiative for fishing communities. He said the government had launched several support schemes for people facing economic hardship. Responding to appeals from fishermen, the state would release large prawn seedlings in 101 major and medium reservoirs over the next 15 days.
This marked the third round of fish seed release at Palair, one of the biggest reservoirs in the undivided Khammam district.
Ponguleti said the Indiramma administration avoided unnecessary spending and ensured that every rupee went toward public benefit.
Later, at a programme at the Kusumanchi camp office, he handed over CMRF cheques worth ₹37.97 lakh to 90 beneficiaries.
Several officials and leaders attended the event, including Additional Collector P. Srinivas Reddy, State Fishermen Cooperative Federation Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, Khammam Executive Engineer, Tahsildar Ravikumar, the MPDO, and union leaders like former DCCB Chairman Balasani Lakshminarayana and CDC Chairman Erabolu Suryanarayana Reddy.
