New Delhi: India launched a targeted military strike late Wednesday night under ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The Indian Army confirmed that nine sites were targeted, all linked to terrorist groups involved in planning and executing attacks on Indian soil. No Pakistani military facilities were hit during the operation.
The Pakistani media reportedly confirmed that three people were killed and twelve others sustained injuries in the strikes.
The military action comes in the wake of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on 22 April, where 26 tourists were shot dead. Among the victims was a tourist from Nepal. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently leading the probe into the attack. It officially registered a case in Jammu on 27 April.
“This operation underscores India’s resolve to hold perpetrators accountable while avoiding unnecessary provocation. A detailed briefing on the operation will follow later today,” said a Tweet by the Ministry of Defence.
