Hyderabad: Encroachments that had blocked a designated park near Madhuranagar Metro station in Yellareddyguda for decades were removed on Sunday by HYDRAA staff. The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) team reclaimed the site measuring 1,533 square yards, making it available to the public after nearly 60 years.
The Sai Sarde Nagar Residents Welfare Association had raised the matter through HYDRAA’s Prajavani platform. Commissioner Ranganath ordered an immediate inquiry about the illegal structures.
The original layout was sanctioned in 1961 on five acres under Sai Sarde Nagar, carving out 35 plots and reserving a portion for a public park. Narayan Prasad’s heirs, who developed the layout, later installed a shed on the park area and obtained a house number with the help of local officials.

Although six roads in the colony were completed, no action was taken to clear the park. Repeated complaints to GHMC went unanswered for years.
Ultimately, residents approached HYDRAA, which coordinated with other departments and carried out a detailed inspection. The illegal structures were dismantled on Sunday.
Locals welcomed the clearance, describing it as the end of a 60-year struggle.
