IIT Hyderabad develops Digi PIN to assign accurate digital addresses

Hyderabad: Students and faculty of IIT Hyderabad have developed a new system called Digi PIN aimed at providing every person and institution in India with an accurate, unique digital address.

The innovation addresses technical limitations found in traditional address systems and is designed to improve accuracy and identification.

The Digi PIN concept has been introduced as a solution for standardised and verifiable addressing, making it easier to locate individuals and institutions reliably.

The project was guided by IIT Hyderabad faculty members Shashank Vatadka, Professor Soumya, and Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Natrajan, with research studies supported in collaboration with ISRO.

Experts said the system uses natural codes to identify precise and unique locations, and it is built to align with social needs while also aiding navigation.

IIT Hyderabad Director B.S. Murty congratulated the team and expressed satisfaction over the development of this digital PIN, calling it a step forward in address accuracy and innovation.
