Hyderabad: HYDRAA Prajavani complaints on Monday rose to 59, as residents flagged encroachments of parks, lakes and public utility lands across the city and its outskirts.
Several petitioners told officials that developers earmarked lands as parks and open spaces during layout approvals but later converted them into plots. As a result, spaces meant for clean air and public use started disappearing under different names.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed the HYDRAA Prajavani complaints and directed concerned officials to act. He also said teams would soon conduct field inspections in select cases.
In Hayathnagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district, residents of Sahebnagar said developers filled an open well measuring 305 square yards in Survey No. 225 and sold it as plots. They explained that the 16.35-acre Medical and Health Colony layout originally had 216 plots with clearly marked boundaries. However, after 22 years, private parties allegedly erased the well and altered the layout. Therefore, the welfare association sought immediate restoration for public use.

In Ameenpur municipality, locals said private parties converted a 672-square-yard park in Indus Valley-2 layout under Survey Nos. 1019 and 1020/P into plots. Earlier, residents had resisted the move and approached authorities. Subsequently, HYDRAA intervened and protected the park. Residents then installed cement benches and planted saplings to develop the space. The Commissioner later felicitated colony representatives and Inspector Balagopal for their efforts.
In Charlapalli’s EC Nagar under Kapra mandal, residents alleged that the original seller encroached on an acre marked as park land. They said he constructed a compound wall despite municipal boards identifying it as park land. Hence, they urged HYDRAA to clear the encroachment and safeguard the space.
Similarly, in Gajularamaram village of Qutbullapur mandal, residents said encroachers occupied a 35-gunta park in Mithilanagar and Vishnupriya Enclave in the name of temples. They requested officials to retain it strictly for public use.

In Miyapur’s Laxminagar Colony, residents sought protection of park land near Nayamma Kunta. They asked officials to block fresh construction and instead promote plantation to develop a green zone.
At Bandamkommu village in Ameenpur, locals alleged that real estate firms occupied land earmarked for a crematorium, water tank and Mahila Bhavan. Moreover, they claimed that some individuals threatened them when they objected.
In Nadargul village under Shamshabad zone, residents of Green Hills Colony said encroachments blocked flood channels connecting Sunnam Cheruvu and Reddikunta. Consequently, floodwater entered their homes every monsoon. They added that several houses remained submerged for nearly a month. Therefore, they demanded removal of encroachments and restoration of lake connectivity.
Meanwhile, several residents who earlier secured protection of their parks attended the programme and thanked the Commissioner for timely action.
