Hyderabad: At least 11 people, including seven men and four women, fell ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor at a Kallu compound in HMT Hills, police said.
The incident occurred within Kukatpally police limits. Victims identified as Yobu (JNTU, Addagutta), Devadas (Miyapur), Pochavva (Google Flats, 9th Phase), Chakali Lakshmi (JNTU), Govindamma (Shamshiguda), Pentish, Yadagiri, Narasimha, Madhavi (Satavahana Nagar), Monappa, Indra Hills, and Koteshwararao (KPHB Colony) are receiving treatment at Ramdev Rao Hospital in Kukatpally.
Balanagar DCP Suresh Kumar, Kukatpally ACP Ravi Kiran Reddy and CI K. V. Subbarao visited the hospital and commenced an inquiry. MLA Madhavaram Krishnarao also visited the patients.
Authorities are investigating the source of the liquor and possible negligence. Further updates are awaited.
