Hyderabad: Heavy traffic choked major roads in Hyderabad on Monday as people poured back into the city after the Dasara holidays. Commuters faced long delays near LB Nagar, where vehicles barely moved for hours. Many abandoned cars and opted for the Metro to reach their destinations.
Metro officials said crowds swelled at the LB Nagar Metro Station soon after morning hours. Staff members directed passengers into queues to manage the rush. The waiting line stretched nearly a kilometre, forcing passengers to wait close to two hours to reach the platform. Many expressed anger and exhaustion over the chaos.
Hyderabad traffic jam grips LB Nagar and Choutuppal routes
Traffic crawled along the Choutuppal highway from Chityal in Nalgonda district to Pedakaparthi. Thousands of vehicles headed toward Hyderabad, creating long backups at the Pantangi Toll Plaza. Drivers complained of bumper-to-bumper movement and no space to turn.
Traffic police deployed extra personnel and cleared blockages to restore movement. Officers urged motorists to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking on narrow stretches. By late evening, authorities eased congestion on key routes leading into the city.
