Hyderabad traffic police conduct awareness at black spots under road safety campaign

Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing “Arrive Alive” road safety campaign and National Road Safety Month 2026, Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted an awareness drive at major accident-prone locations under SR Nagar limits on Friday.

The drive, held at Maitrivanam Junction in Ameerpet and near the Umesh Chandra statue in SR Nagar, was led by Additional DCP Traffic-I C. Venugopal Reddy in coordination with TTI Begumpet and SR Nagar Traffic Police. The initiative aimed to reinforce the message that “road safety is everyone’s responsibility.”

Addressing the gathering, Reddy stressed the need for responsible driving to prevent accidents. The campaign focused on awareness about black spots, importance of seat belts, dangers of mobile phone use while driving, drunk driving, wrong-side driving, red signal jumping, auto racing, minor driving, overspeeding, and triple riding. He also highlighted the legal penalties associated with such violations.

ACP Traffic Hari Prasad, who also attended the event, explained that adherence to traffic rules is essential to avoid accidents and protect lives. He also demonstrated correct road-crossing techniques for pedestrians.

The event saw active participation from youth, local residents, auto drivers, passengers, two-wheeler riders, and pedestrians. Key officers present included Inspector Nagul Ashok from TTI Begumpet, SHO Srinivas Reddy from SR Nagar Traffic PS, and Sub-Inspectors Naveen Reddy, Bheem Rao, Nagaraju, along with other staff from both TTI Begumpet and SR Nagar Traffic Station.
