Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Syed Khalid Saifullah condemned the US-Israel military action on Iran and criticised the Centre’s response during the Hyderabad protest Iran strikes held on Sunday.
He joined an all-party demonstration at Charminar, where hundreds gathered before marching to Exhibition Grounds in Nampally. Participants from political groups and civil society organisations attended in large numbers. The rally moved through key Old City routes and ended with a public meeting.
Saifullah alleged that the strikes caused heavy civilian casualties, including the deaths of over 100 schoolchildren in an air strike. He described the situation as a serious escalation involving major global powers. He warned that such actions could threaten international peace and stability.
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the Central government had not condemned reported civilian deaths. However, he noted that the government reacted to Iran’s retaliation. He said this reflected an inconsistent foreign policy approach.

Hyderabad protest Iran strikes raise expatriate concerns
Saifullah said India must take a principled stand in global matters, especially as it seeks a leadership role internationally. He added that silence on violence weakens moral credibility.
He highlighted concerns about Indian expatriates in West Asia. He said over one crore Indians in the Gulf region could face risks due to instability. According to him, these expatriates send nearly $4 billion annually, which supports India’s economy.
He further alleged that domestic economic issues had worsened under current policies. He pointed to shortages of fuel and gas and rising prices of essential goods. He claimed that even everyday items like samosas had become costlier.
Saifullah urged the Centre to reassess its foreign policy and take a clear position against what he termed unjust aggression. He called for diplomatic efforts to restore peace and protect civilians.
The protest ended with participants demanding accountability, an end to hostilities, and a stronger Indian stance on international conflicts.
