Hyderabad police urge students to stay strong after exam-related suicides

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar urged students to stay strong following a series of exam-related suicides, cautioning against treating failure as the end of life.

Recent incidents, in which eight students died by suicide due to fear of failing exams and momentary distress, have raised concern. The commissioner described the situation as deeply troubling and called for immediate attention.

He also cited a case where a student died before results were announced, despite eventually passing. According to him, such incidents underline the impact of anxiety and fear among students.

Addressing students, Sajjanar said exam failure does not amount to failure in life. Instead, he described setbacks as temporary and said consistent effort can lead to success.

Exam-related suicides prompt an appeal to stay strong and seek support

Students should face results with confidence and continue their efforts despite setbacks, he said. Many successful individuals, he added, overcame repeated failures before reaching their goals.

He emphasised that life holds greater value than any exam outcome and described resilience as the true measure of success. Students must not lose hope, he said, as life offers multiple opportunities ahead.

For parents, the commissioner stressed the need for support during this period. He urged them to stay approachable and provide reassurance, noting that even small encouragement can save lives.
