Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, arrested a 21-year-old man and seized 4,000 kg of adulterated ginger garlic paste during a surprise inspection under the limits of Lake Police Station.
Acting on credible information, officials raided premises at H.No.6-3-1240/5 near Railway Gate, MS Maqtha. They identified the accused as Jasani Ilyan, son of Jasani Hazeez Ali, who ran a ginger garlic paste business under the name JJ Food. He resided at Mahaveer Apartment in Abids.
During the inspection, officers found that he was preparing adulterated ginger garlic paste in plastic containers under highly unhygienic conditions. The paste was stored in open tubs and remained exposed to dust and flies. As a result, officials declared the stock unsafe and unfit for human consumption.
The accused allegedly supplied the adulterated ginger garlic paste to general kirana stores, wholesale dealers, restaurants and retail shops across Hyderabad. Police said he earned large profits through the illegal activity.
Expired licence used in adulterated ginger garlic paste unit
Officials found that the packaging displayed FSSAI Licence No. 13624010000299, which had expired. They seized 1,600 kg of loose paste stored in 40 plastic tubs and 130 containers of 5 kg each weighing 650 kg. In addition, they confiscated 900 containers of 1 kg each, 300 containers of 500 grams weighing 150 kg, 3,000 containers of 200 grams weighing 600 kg, and 2,000 sachets of 50 grams weighing 100 kg.
The team also seized one large grinding machine and one small grinding machine from the unit. Furthermore, they confiscated 5 kg of turmeric powder, 20 litres of acetic acid and 1,000 kg of salt packed in 40 bags. A goods supply auto bearing number TS07UG5664 was also taken into custody.
Police registered a case in Cr. No. 18/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Lake Police Station. Subsequently, officers handed over the accused and seized material to the Station House Officer of Lake PS for further investigation.
