HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad City Police have reviewed security arrangements ahead of the Sri Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatra scheduled for April 12.
Director General and Commissioner of Police C V Anand conducted a video conference with city police officials to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the annual procession.
During the meeting, the Commissioner reviewed incidents from the previous year’s yatra and examined the proposed measures in detail. He issued a set of directives aimed at tightening security and preventing disruptions during the religious procession.
The police have been directed to implement special surveillance measures at all intersections where smaller processions are likely to merge with the main route. Additionally, special forces will be deployed in sensitive areas, especially near religious sites, where continuous and stringent surveillance will be maintained. All Station House Officers (SHOs) are required to personally inspect the designated route of the yatra, which covers Sri Ram Mandir in Gauli Guda, Bible House, and concludes at Tad Bund Hanuman Temple. SHOs must report any potential obstructions or issues to the relevant authorities for immediate rectification.
Organisers are to be clearly advised that refraining from using DJ systems during the procession would greatly benefit public health and the well-being of participating devotees.
The bursting of firecrackers, throwing them at pedestrians, and the use of ‘gulal’ (coloured powder) on the public have been strictly prohibited. Participants are also urged to maintain restraint during the return journey post-yatra, in light of previous experiences.
Provocative banners are not permitted, and organisers must limit the number of vehicles in the procession. They are also responsible for ensuring that no disruptive elements from outside the community interfere with the event.
Drone usage during the procession is banned unless prior, explicit permission is obtained from the concerned authorities.
The public has been warned not to believe or spread rumours on social media. Circulating provocative content or fake messages may lead to legal action.
The police will place special emphasis on preventing petty crimes such as pickpocketing and chain snatching during the yatra.
Participating in the virtual conference were Vikram Singh Mann, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), S. Chaitanya Kumar (DCP – Special Branch), Pushpa (DCP – IT Cell), along with Zonal DCPs, ACPs, Inspectors, and other officers.
