Hyderabad: Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday announced that over 30,000 personnel had been deployed to manage security for Ganesh Navratri and the upcoming Ganesh Shobha Yatra across Hyderabad.
After offering prayers at Khairatabad Bada Ganesh, Anand said he had led festival security operations 11 times during his 25-year tenure in the city. This included his roles as DCP, Traffic Additional Commissioner, and Commissioner. Visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh on the second day of festivities had become his personal tradition, he added.
30,000 police personnel deployed for Ganesh Shobha Yatra
Out of the 30,000 on duty, 19,000 are from Hyderabad City Police. Another 8,500 came from other districts. The force also includes 10 City Armed Reserve companies and 42 platoons of armed police. Elite Octopus commandos will assist in critical zones.
Police granted permission to 10,900 of the 11,000 online applicants for idol installations. They also identified another 15,000 idols across the city. Officers have placed all of them under direct surveillance.

Teams are monitoring high-traffic zones through CCTV. The command-and-control centre will supervise immersion day activities on September 6. The department will also live-stream the event from its HQ.
Authorities will deploy around 40 cranes along Tank Bund and other immersion points. Police are coordinating with civic bodies to ensure proper lighting, electricity safety, and crowd control near pandals.
Khairatabad Ganesh is expected to attract nearly 70,000 visitors daily. Weekend footfalls may cross two lakh. Anand urged organisers to stay alert during the rainy spell and take safety precautions near electric setups.
Peace committees and the Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi are also working with police to maintain communal harmony and ensure smooth celebrations.
