Hyderabad: Hyderabad police registered 103 cases and arrested 143 persons for selling Chinese manja during enforcement drives carried out across the city over the last month.
Police seized 6,226 bobbins of the banned kite string during raids by special teams and local police units. Officers targeted shops and godowns involved in the illegal trade.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar said the sale and use of Chinese manja remained prohibited and attracted strict legal action.

Police booked cases under provisions of the Environment Protection Act and the BNS Act. Sajjanar said officers formed dedicated investigation teams to trace the source of the material.
He said police kept close watch on traders and continued raids across the city. Teams also monitored e-commerce websites and other online platforms for illegal sales.
Sajjanar warned that police would register cases against platform managements if they facilitated such sales. He urged the public not to use the banned kite string, saying violations would invite legal action.
