HYDERABAD, February 8: Rachakonda police have arrested four individuals involved in multiple mobile shop burglaries in the city. Acting on credible information, teams led by Sri Raju, SHO Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station, and Sri D Jalandhar Reddy, Inspector, CCS Malkajgiri, apprehended the suspects at Uppal Bhagayath area.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing shutter-lifting thefts at mobile shops within the Pocharam IT Corridor and Meerpet police station limits. Following their confession, the police recovered stolen property, including mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and burglary tools, from Uppal Bhagayath and Narapally. The total value of recovered items stands at ₹11,75,533.
Two cases in this regard were registered viz. Cr.No. 66/2025 U/s 331(4), 305(a) BNS – Pocharam IT Corridor PS, Cr.No. 159/2025 U/s 331(4), 305(a) BNS – Meerpet PS
Accused involve A-1: Prabhat Singh (24), driver, resident of Gyanbagh Colony, Hyderabad; native of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, A-2: Nepal Singh (25), auto driver, resident of Begum Bazar, Hyderabad; native of Barmer, Rajasthan, A-3: Tharun Pal Singh alias Tiger (22), salesman, resident of Goshamahal, Hyderabad; native of Barmer, Rajasthan and A-4: Parveen Singh (21), auto driver, resident of Begum Bazar, Hyderabad; native of Barmer, Rajasthan.
The accused, all originally from Rajasthan, had come to Hyderabad for livelihood but formed a gang to target mobile shops for quick financial gain. Aided by two absconding associates, they used a goods van belonging to an absconding suspect (A-5) to conduct reconnaissance and commit burglaries during late-night hours.
Their method involved identifying vulnerable mobile shops, lifting shutters using iron rods and crowbars, and swiftly stealing high-value items. The gang specifically targeted mobile shops due to the ease of reselling stolen phones. They also carried chilli powder and weapons to deter or attack anyone who attempted to stop them.
They committed thefts in the early hours of February 3, 2025, at Meerpet PS limits and again on February 4, 2025, at Pocharam IT Corridor PS limits.
A joint effort by CCS Malkajgiri and Pocharam IT Corridor PS led to the successful arrest of the accused. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sri G Sudheer Babu, IPS, appreciated the officers involved, including:
