Hyderabad police book 460 drunk driving cases in special drive

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 460 drunk driving cases during a two-day special enforcement drive conducted on December 12 and 13 to strengthen road safety across the city.

The special drive targeted motorists driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Officers conducted checks at multiple locations and detected violations across different vehicle categories. Traffic officials said the operation aimed to curb accidents caused by drunk driving.

Vehicle-wise data showed that two-wheeler riders accounted for the highest number of violations. Police registered 350 cases against two-wheelers during the drive. In addition, officers booked 25 cases involving three-wheelers and 85 cases related to four-wheelers and other vehicles.

Drunk driving cases dominated by two-wheeler riders

Traffic Police officials said drunken driving continued to pose a serious risk to public safety. Therefore, enforcement teams focused on deterrence through visible checks and strict action. They reiterated that alcohol-impaired driving endangered not only motorists but also pedestrians and fellow commuters.

Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that they followed a zero-tolerance approach toward drunk driving violations. Moreover, officials confirmed that similar special drives would continue regularly to ensure safer roads across the city.

Meanwhile, police urged commuters to cooperate with enforcement personnel and strictly follow traffic rules. They emphasised that responsible driving played a key role in reducing accidents and saving lives.
