Hyderabad terror plot foiled: Two ISIS-linked suspects reveal wider bomb conspiracy

Hyderabad: Two young men arrested in connection with an alleged ISIS terror plot in Hyderabad have made startling confessions during police interrogation, revealing a broader plan to carry out bomb attacks in the city.

Sources said the duo Mohammad Sameer from Bhoiguda, Secunderabad, and Sirajur Rahman from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh were picked up by Telangana police two days ago and have since been remanded to judicial custody.

According to the police remand report, the two suspects disclosed the involvement of four more individuals who were to help execute the planned attacks. Acting under the instructions of handlers linked to ISIS based in Saudi Arabia, they reportedly developed the conspiracy over several weeks, even staying in Hyderabad for a period along with six others.

The accused had formed a group on Instagram to coordinate with their ISIS contacts abroad. Sirajur Rahman allegedly ordered stainless steel tiffin boxes via Amazon to construct tiffin box bombs. Following his arrest, police raided his home in Vizianagaram and seized ammonium nitrate, sulphur, and ammonium powder.

Both men were reportedly working on assembling the bombs, while the remaining four were tasked with placing them at designated locations in Hyderabad. The plot came undone due to alert surveillance by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh NIA units.

With four suspects still at large, investigators believe their arrest will expose the exact locations targeted and bring further facts to light.
