Hyderabad shocker: House owner installs hidden camera in tenant’s bathroom, arrested

Hyderabad: A shocking incident has come to light in the city after a house owner allegedly installed secret cameras inside a rented home in Jawahar Nagar, Madhura Nagar. Police arrested the accused, Ashok Yadav, for fitting a hidden camera inside a bathroom bulb holder to record private moments of a young married tenant.

Tenant discovers a secret camera inside the bathroom

Police said the 23-year-old woman, who works in a private firm, lived with her husband in the rented house. On October 4, the bathroom bulb stopped working, and she informed the house owner. Ashok Yadav called an electrician but secretly told him to install a hidden camera inside the bulb holder. The camera recorded the woman while she was bathing.

On October 13, the couple grew suspicious when a screw from the bulb holder fell off. The husband checked the fixture and found the hidden camera. Shocked by the discovery, he confronted the owner. However, Ashok Yadav refused to respond and threatened the couple, warning them that the electrician had a criminal past and could harm them.

Owner arrested, electrician absconding

Fearing danger, the couple filed a complaint with the Madhura Nagar Police. Police detained Ashok Yadav and confirmed that he had ordered the camera installation. The electrician, identified as Chintu, fled after the incident, and search teams are tracking him.

Investigators found that footage from the camera had already spread online. Police are now working to identify how the video leaked and to stop further circulation.

Social outrage and safety concerns

The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media. Many users demanded stricter checks on landlords and electronic surveillance devices. Netizens urged tenants to inspect bathrooms and bedrooms for hidden devices before renting a house.

Several users noted that such crimes were once limited to hotels and hostels but are now emerging in private homes, raising serious privacy and safety concerns.
