Hyderabad heavy rain alert issued across city

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad heavy rain alert was issued after intense showers lashed several parts of the city from midnight, prompting authorities to suspend power supply in multiple areas as a precaution.

Heavy rain was reported in Secunderabad, Basheer Bagh, Alwal, Jubilee Hills, Punjagutta and Manikonda, among other localities. The downpour continued intermittently through the early hours, affecting road visibility and local movement. Consequently, officials advised residents to remain indoors unless travel was unavoidable.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Department warned that light to moderate rainfall was likely across GHMC limits over the next few hours. It stated that northern and western zones of the city could receive comparatively higher rainfall. Accordingly, the department released a rainfall intensity map outlining vulnerable pockets.

The Hyderabad heavy rain alert followed sustained cloud activity over the region. Officials indicated that precautionary power cuts were implemented in several neighbourhoods to prevent electrical hazards during the downpour. As a result, residents in affected areas remained without electricity for several hours.

Authorities urged caution, particularly during late-night travel. They asked citizens to avoid waterlogged stretches and unnecessary movement. Meanwhile, emergency response teams remained on standby to address any rain-related incidents within GHMC jurisdiction.

No major disruptions or casualties were reported at the time of issuing the advisory. Weather officials said conditions would be monitored closely, with further updates to be released depending on rainfall intensity.
