Hyderabad: Telangana is working to position the city as a Hyderabad global value creation hub across sectors beyond information technology, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said on Monday.
He made the remarks after inaugurating The Hartford India Technology Center at Nanakramguda Financial District. The facility, set up by global insurance company The Hartford, spans around 1.5 lakh square feet. It has the capacity to employ nearly 1,200 professionals.
The Minister said the government is building industry-ready talent that matches evolving business needs. At the same time, it is strengthening an innovation ecosystem that supports next-generation technologies. As a result, Hyderabad is expanding its footprint beyond traditional IT services.
Sridhar Babu described The Hartford’s expansion as a significant milestone. The company, which has a history of over two centuries, chose Hyderabad for its growth plans. He said the centre will reinforce the Hyderabad global value creation hub ambition in the insurance sector. The focus areas include artificial intelligence, risk intelligence and digital engineering.
Hyderabad global value creation hub backed by 400 GCCs
The Minister noted that Hyderabad hosts over 400 Global Capability Centres. Several multinational firms, including Marriott, McDonald’s, UBS, DAZN, Vanguard, Eli Lilly, HCA Healthcare and Citizens Bank, have established major operations in the city.
He said the State is rolling out strategic initiatives to help GCCs evolve from back-end support units into Global Value Centres. Therefore, the government aims to move companies higher up the value chain. Ease-of-doing-business reforms, policy stability and robust digital infrastructure continue to attract global investments, he added.
According to Sridhar Babu, the newly launched centre will collaborate closely with The Hartford’s technology hubs in Hartford, Chicago, Charlotte and Columbus in the United States. It will focus on artificial intelligence, digital transformation and advanced technology development. The facility is expected to function as an engineering excellence hub within the company’s global network.
Senior leaders from The Hartford, including president Morris Tooker, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Claire Burns, CIO Shekar Pannala, Hartford India Managing Director and Head Surya Tammiraju, and CTO Imran Malik, attended the inauguration.
