Hyderabad: Hyderabad district collector Harichandana Dasari directed medical officials to identify unlicensed hospitals and initiate legal action against them.
She issued the orders during a meeting of the District Registering Authority Committee held on Tuesday at the collectorate under the supervision of the medical and health department. Dasari instructed officials to verify all documentation before approving any hospital registrations, as per the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010 and the Registration and Regulation Rules, 2022.
She said SPHOs must file cases against unlicensed hospitals in coordination with the police. She also flagged instances where AYUSH practitioners were providing allopathic treatment in violation of rules and called for immediate enforcement action against such facilities.
374 private hospitals applied for permanent registration in the district
Of the 374 private hospitals that submitted applications for permanent registration or renewal, 322 were forwarded by SPHOs for approval. Dasari ordered a joint team of officials and police to re-inspect these hospitals and submit a report within a week.
She reviewed the checklist used during inspections and asked police officers to focus on verifying doctors’ credentials and checking for any criminal or legal cases against them or their clinics. During the SPHO inspections, officials presented a list of registered hospitals to the collector. She instructed them to impose penalties and pursue legal action wherever violations were found.
Additional collector for local bodies, Kadiri Vanpalani, DCP Dr Lavanya, DM&HO Dr Venkati, additional DMHO Dr Jayamalini, DMO Ramulu, deputy DMHO Anjaiah Goud, DIO Dr Sridhar, SPHOs and other staff participated in the meeting.
