Hyderabad: In another grim fallout of the real estate slowdown, a 47-year-old builder from Hyderabad died by suicide, leaving behind a note attributing his death to severe financial distress.
Marri Venkateshwarlu, a resident of Prashanth Hills Colony under Meerpet police limits, had been working in the real estate sector while living with his wife and two children.
Unable to cope with mounting losses as the property market declined, Venkateshwarlu reportedly grew increasingly distressed.
On Thursday, he went to his flat in Saipriya Colony under Injapur limits and hanged himself after writing a suicide note stating that he was dying due to financial difficulties.
Following a complaint filed by his wife, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Venkateshwarlu’s death adds to a series of suicides linked to economic pressures in Hyderabad’s volatile real estate sector.
