Hundi counting begins at Sammakka Saralamma Jathara, ₹2.49 crore on first day

Hyderabad: Hundi counting for the Sri Sammakka Saralamma Jathara 2026 began on February 5 at the TTD Kalyana Mandapam in Hanamkonda, with authorities collecting ₹2.49 crore on the first day.

As per the official daily report, hundi counting started at 6 pm under strict supervision. Endowments Department staff and Seva Samithi members took part in the exercise. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the process remained peaceful throughout the day. However, teams did not begin coin counting on the first day.

The report stated that devotees deposited offerings in 828 hundis, including iron, cloth, and rice hundis. On February 5, officials opened 125 hundis and collected ₹2,49,65,000 in cash. At the same time, supervising officers ensured that gold and silver offerings remained locked separately in iron hundis.

After completing the count, officials handed over the collected amount to bank authorities on the same day. Subsequently, the Executive Officer confirmed that hundi counting would continue in phases over the coming days.

Moreover, the report said officials followed Endowments Department guidelines at every stage. Throughout the process, senior officers closely monitored the arrangements. Finally, the Executive Officer forwarded copies of the report to the Mulugu District Collector and other concerned officials for information.
