Helicopter services launched for Medaram Jatara devotees

Hyderabad: Devotees visiting the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara received a boost as the Telangana government launched helicopter services to offer aerial views of the mega tribal festival.

The Telangana Tourism Department introduced helicopter joy rides from a specially set up helipad at Padigapur. Through these rides, devotees can view the Medaram Jatara from the air for about six to seven minutes. Officials fixed the ticket price at ₹4,800 per person.

The department also announced helicopter services between Hanamkonda and Medaram for devotees seeking faster travel. Officials fixed the round-trip fare for the Hanamkonda–Medaram route at ₹35,999 per person.

According to tourism officials, helicopters will operate from the Elubaka area in Tadvai mandal to provide an aerial view of Medaram and its surroundings. The services will remain available daily until January 31.

The organisers said the helicopter rides would operate every day from 8 am to 5.20 pm. They added that the services aimed to ease travel and enhance the experience for devotees visiting the jatara.

Officials said the initiative was expected to attract more visitors and offer a unique perspective of one of Asia’s largest tribal gatherings. They added that safety measures were in place to ensure smooth operations throughout the service period.
