Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday concluded the hearing on the anticipatory bail petition filed by BRS legislator P. Kaushik Reddy, who is facing allegations of threatening a mine owner for money.
Arguing on behalf of the MLA, counsel Ramana Rao informed the court that a lower court in Warangal had already granted bail to Kaushik Reddy in the same case. He said the complaint was registered at Subedari police station in Warangal and that the MLA had filed a writ petition in the High Court on June 16 seeking anticipatory bail.
On June 17, the High Court posted the matter for further hearing on June 23. However, in the interim, Kaushik Reddy was arrested on June 21 and produced before a Warangal court. The court rejected the police’s request for custody and granted him bail.
Given the development, the High Court noted that there was no further need to continue with the anticipatory bail proceedings and closed the matter.
