Harish Rao inspects Siddipet Agricultural Market Yard, flags issues

Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao inspected the Siddipet Agricultural Market Yard and alleged that farmers were facing hardship due to government negligence in crop procurement.

The visit by Harish Rao to Siddipet Agricultural Market Yard on Sunday included interactions with farmers, who raised concerns over procurement delays and low prices.

He said the Agricultural Market Yard inspection exposed gaps in procurement arrangements. He alleged that the Congress government treated farmers with disregard and failed to ensure timely crop purchases.

Speaking to the media, Harish Rao said maize procurement centres had not been opened in Narayanakhed, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. He demanded immediate opening of these centres and payment of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers.

Moreover, he urged officials to visit market yards personally and assess the situation. He said the absence of procurement centres forced farmers to sell produce at low prices, causing financial losses.

He also criticised A. Revanth Reddy, stating that while farmers were advised to diversify crops, there was no system to procure alternative produce.

Harish Rao described the government as one that caused distress to farmers. He further demanded relief for farmers affected by hailstorms in several districts.

In addition, he insisted that ‘Rythu Bandhu’ financial assistance be released on time to support farmers.
