Hyderabad: Former Minister T. Harish Rao on Sunday accused the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government of neglecting the 26 state-run medical colleges established during the previous BRS regime.
In a statement, Rao said the colleges set up with long-term planning now faced an uncertain future due to administrative inaction.
He cited a show cause notice issued by the National Medical Commission, asking the State Health Secretary and Director of Medical Education to explain infrastructure shortfalls at the colleges. The officials have been summoned on June 18.
Rao called the Chief Minister’s response delayed and symbolic. “He’s woken up too late and is hiding behind a committee,” Rao said.
He alleged that the administration was adrift and accused Revanth Reddy of targeting institutions for political reasons.
The former minister sent the NMC letter to the state government and asked the Chief Minister to take urgent corrective steps.
He demanded immediate release of funds to ensure facilities for students who, he said, were now bearing the brunt of governance failure.
