Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao is set to deliver a detailed PowerPoint presentation titled “River Waters, Congress Betrayals” at Telangana Bhavan at 11 am today. The presentation will target irrigation-related decisions during the Congress regime. The party alleges these decisions have harmed Telangana’s water interests.
The event is a counter to criticism from Congress ministers during the ongoing Telangana Assembly session. On Friday, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy used a PowerPoint presentation to highlight alleged failures during the BRS tenure. He accused the previous government of neglecting the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also launched a sharp attack on the BRS over its handling of irrigation projects. In response, the BRS has accused the Congress of weakening Telangana’s irrigation sector through past policy missteps and controversial agreements.
Harish Rao’s presentation will focus on errors in handling Krishna and Godavari river waters during earlier Congress governments. He is expected to explain, with data, how handing over control of joint irrigation projects on the Krishna River to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) could damage Telangana’s interests.
He will also discuss how earlier agreements signed by Congress administrations allegedly undermined the state’s control over its water resources. Senior BRS leaders and public representatives are expected to attend the session.
