Harish Rao questions RTC promises, seeks clarity in Assembly

Hyderabad: BRS leader T Harish Rao questioned the Congress government over unfulfilled promises to RTC employees during the Assembly session and sought clarity on dues and policy decisions.

Raising the issue in the House, he alleged that the government ignored commitments made to RTC employees before elections. According to him, the administration failed to address key concerns affecting both workers and the corporation.

He recalled that the previous BRS government recognised RTC employees as government staff and issued a gazette notification. The present government, he said, must clarify the date from which it would extend that status.

Referring to the Governor’s speech, he said the government claimed savings of ₹9,200 crore from free travel for women. He then asked whether the government transferred this amount to RTC or kept it pending.

RTC employees issues raised over dues and benefits

He sought details on the corporation’s finances and asked whether RTC was running in profit or loss. In case of profits, he questioned the delay in releasing benefits, arrears, and CCS dues.

Regarding pay revision, he said RTC employees had waited three years for a new PRC. The government, he added, should announce a clear timeline for implementing the revised pay scale.

He also cited the Congress manifesto promise to restore RTC unions. A timeline for fulfilling that commitment, he said, must be specified.

Concerns over bus shortage also surfaced across several constituencies, including Siddipet. Depot managers, he noted, cited lack of buses when commuters sought improved services.

He asked whether the government planned to add buses based on traffic demand. In addition, he sought clarity on replacing outdated buses with new ones.

The government, he said, must fulfil all promises made to RTC employees. Immediate action, he added, was needed to address staff grievances and resolve the shortage of buses across the state.
