Harish Rao attacks Congress over six guarantees delay

Hyderabad: Six guarantees promised within 100 days remain unimplemented even after 800 days, former Minister Harish Rao alleged, accusing the Congress government of failing to honour its commitments.

He said Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had written bond papers assuring implementation of the six guarantees within 100 days of forming the government. However, according to him, not even one promise has materialised. He added that despite the Revanth Reddy government completing half its tenure, key assurances remain pending.

Speaking in Siddipet, Harish Rao demanded that the government allocate funds for these schemes in the upcoming Assembly Budget session. Therefore, he urged the government to present a realistic Budget instead of repeating announcements without financial backing.

Six guarantees must reflect in Budget

Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government misled farmers, BCs, SCs, STs and youth. Within a month of assuming power, he said, the government promised Rs 4,000 pensions to elderly persons, beedi workers, weavers and toddy tappers. Yet, even after 27 months, beneficiaries have not received the enhanced amount.

He also questioned whether Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka would allocate funds in this Budget. Similarly, he said the promise of Rs 2,500 per month to women remains unfulfilled. Not a single rupee has reached beneficiaries, he claimed. Accordingly, he demanded immediate allocations for women.

Referring to social justice commitments, Harish Rao said the government failed to implement 18 percent reservations for Dalits under the SC Declaration. He further stated that the BC Sub-Plan and 42 percent reservations for BCs remain on paper. The promised annual allocation of Rs 20,000 crore has not materialised, he added.

Turning to farmers, he alleged that the government failed to deliver Rs 15,000 Rythu Bandhu assistance, crop insurance and bonuses for all crops. Moreover, he said labourers have not received benefits under Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa.

He asserted that schemes highlighted in the previous Budget have not taken shape. Consequently, he demanded that the government stop rhetoric in the Assembly and present a practical Budget with clear allocations.
