Hyderabad: The Godavari river rose dangerously at Bhadrachalam on Sunday, crossing the 48-foot mark by 9 a.m. after heavy inflows from upstream. As a result, authorities issued the second-level flood warning for the temple town.
Floodwaters submerged several bathing steps and electric poles near the ghats. The water reached up to Kalyana Katta, and officials immediately restricted devotees from entering the river for ritual baths. Meanwhile, public announcements urged people to stay away from the riverbanks.
