GHMC launches WhatsApp sanitation grievance service

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation launched a new system enabling citizens to send WhatsApp sanitation complaints directly to civic authorities for quicker grievance redressal.

The initiative aimed to strengthen sanitation services and improve the response to public complaints across the city.

Officials said residents could report sanitation-related issues in their neighbourhoods without visiting municipal offices.

Citizens could send WhatsApp sanitation complaints about garbage on roads, overflowing dustbins, uncleared waste, clogged nalas requiring desilting, and green waste removal.

To register a complaint, residents must send a photo of the issue along with the location details to the dedicated WhatsApp number 8125966586.

Once officials receive the message, the system alerts the concerned sanitation teams to take immediate action.

WhatsApp sanitation complaints system for quick response

Officials said the WhatsApp sanitation complaints platform would provide a quick and simple way for residents to communicate sanitation issues.

The system was designed to improve accessibility and encourage citizens to participate in maintaining cleanliness across Hyderabad.

According to GHMC officials, the initiative would strengthen coordination between residents and civic authorities.

They also said the service would help improve overall sanitation management across the city.

WhatsApp sanitation complaints awareness campaign

To promote the new service, GHMC released a short awareness video explaining how citizens could report sanitation problems through WhatsApp.

Officials urged residents to actively participate in keeping the city clean by sending WhatsApp sanitation complaints whenever they noticed sanitation issues.

They emphasised that public participation played an important role in maintaining a clean, green, and healthy Hyderabad.

Residents could report sanitation issues through WhatsApp or call the helpline number 8125966586.
