HYDERABAD: A serious incident at GHMC Circle 14 has sparked outrage among municipal employees, after BJP corporator Rakesh Jaiswal from Jambagh and Congress leader Prakash Reddy allegedly assaulted a section officer on duty.
According to reports, tensions escalated when the corporator and the Congress leader confronted the GHMC staff over an undisclosed issue and physically attacked the officer in charge. The alleged assault prompted immediate backlash from the civic employees.
Outraged by the incident, GHMC staff in Circle 14 boycotted duties and launched a protest, demanding strict action against the corporator. The employees locked the circle office premises and staged a sit-in, raising slogans and expressing anger over the rising instances of political interference and attacks on government officials.
Employees questioned how elected representatives could resort to violence against government officers and demanded that the state government take swift disciplinary and legal action against those responsible.
As the protest continues, work in Circle 14 remains halted, affecting public services in the area. GHMC officials have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
