Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor G Vijayalakshmi stated that the corporation would extend full support to any action taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eliminate terrorism.
During a protest organised against the Pahalgam terrorist incident at the GHMC headquarters today, Mayor Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Mayor M Srilatha, Commissioner R V Karnan, corporators, officials, and staff observed two minutes of silence.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Vijayalakshmi said that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam had caused deep pain to all Indians. She noted that protests against terrorism were being held across the world, emphasising that terrorism is an attack against human values and peace.
She conveyed the GHMC staff’s deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack and called upon people of all religions to unite and demonstrate collectively against terrorism.
Mayor Vijayalakshmi affirmed that any decisions taken by the Modi government for the protection of the nation and the security of its citizens would be fully supported.
Several corporators from various parties, including AIMIM corporators Mirza Saleem Baig, Sohail Qadri, Mohammad Ali Sharif Azam, Mohammad Naseeruddin, Rashid Faraz, Salam Shahid, Muqtadar Baba, Fahd Bin Abdath, Muzaffar Hussain, Abdul Wahab, representative corporator Hafeez Patel, Sahil Akbar, and others were also present at the event.
