Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation stepped up joint efforts to improve air quality across the city under the National Clean Air Programme.
Under the Clean air Hyderabad drive, GHMC brought together key departments and agencies. Officials said each department had a clear role in tackling air pollution.
Authorities focused on identifying pollution hotspots across the city. Based on these findings, teams planned area-specific steps to reduce pollution levels.
Departments also tightened checks on road dust. At the same time, they increased supervision at construction sites to limit dust spread.
Clean air Hyderabad plan targets key pollution sources
As part of the plan, officials increased action against vehicle pollution through traffic checks and rule enforcement. They also strengthened checks on factory emissions to ensure compliance with pollution rules.
In addition, departments regulated construction and demolition waste. Officials said proper handling of such waste helped prevent dust and air contamination.
GHMC said it continued to review progress through regular meetings with departments. Moreover, the civic body said it was using data to track results and improve action.
Officials stressed that the focus remained on steady, long-term improvement. They said clean air was vital for public health, city safety and Hyderabad’s future growth.
