GHMC hosts Indie puppy adoption drive at KBR Park

Hyderabad: An Indie puppy adoption drive organised by GHMC at KBR Park in Banjara Hills drew strong public response, as 30 of 50 puppies found homes on Saturday.

Ministers Seethakka and Konda Surekha, along with MP Renuka Chowdhury, inaugurated the Indie puppy adoption event held on Valentine’s Day. During the programme, they urged citizens to “Be a Hero. Adopt, Don’t Shop.” They also encouraged residents to adopt Indian native puppies and provide them safe homes.

The initiative aimed to promote responsible pet ownership. At the same time, it sought to reduce the number of stray dogs on city streets. Moreover, the dignitaries interacted with visitors and personally handed over puppies to new adopters.

Indie puppy adoption drive stresses responsible care

The leaders appreciated GHMC for organising the Indie puppy adoption mela. Furthermore, they suggested that similar camps should be held more frequently. They observed that dogs have long served as loyal companions. Therefore, they said adoption would strengthen the bond between humans and animals.

In addition, the ministers stressed responsible pet care. They urged adopters to ensure timely vaccination and sterilisation of their pets. Officials confirmed that all 50 Indie puppies were healthy, dewormed and vaccinated before the adoption drive.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from animal lovers and families. Consequently, the programme concluded with 30 puppies placed in caring homes. Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Priyanka Ala, GHMC Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Abdul Wakeel, Deputy Director Dr Rama Krishna and other officials attended the event.
