Hyderabad: GHMC Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Sankalp Mela’ at the Jayashankar Sports Ground in Lalapet. She called for comprehensive support and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities across all sectors.
The event, organised jointly by Blue Foundation, Enabled India, and Cadre Foundation, brought together over 40 NGOs serving persons with disabilities onto a single platform. The Deputy Mayor praised the organisers for their efforts. She commended them for uniting diverse welfare initiatives and service providers at one venue.
‘Empowerment of the differently-abled is key to social development’
Speaking at the event, Srilatha Shobhan Reddy said that persons with disabilities possess immense potential and should be given rightful opportunities to excel. “Recognising and nurturing their talent is essential for inclusive growth. Empowerment of the differently-abled is the pathway to building an equitable society,” she said.
Several officials and organisation heads participated in the gathering, including Moses Chowdary, COO of Enabled India; Krishnamurthy, Director at SERP; K. Saidulu, DSP at Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau; Inspector K. Srinivasa Rao; Haribabu and Mallikarjun from Cadre Foundation; V. Kranthi Kishore from Blue Foundation; and Umar Khan, Chairman of Helen Keller Foundation.
The mela featured stalls from participating organisations showcasing services, support schemes, and government welfare programmes available to persons with disabilities. A large number of citizens visited the stalls to learn about accessible services and initiatives.
