Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Wednesday conducted inspections across several flood-prone zones in the city, directing engineering officials to clear stagnant water points immediately and take measures to avoid traffic disruptions during rainfall.
Accompanied by Traffic Joint Commissioner of Police Gajarao Bhupal, Serilingampally Zonal Commissioner Bhorkade Hemanth Sahadevarao, and other officials, Karnan surveyed areas within the Serilingampally zone.
The inspection included Jubilee Enclave Kaman near Medicover Hospital, where drainage lines were reviewed. He then visited the Tammadikunta lake outlet opposite Shilparamam, followed by a water-logging point near Smileline Dental on Yashoda Hospital Road in Hitec City.
Karnan instructed officials to construct a stormwater drain near Smileline Dental and to remove garbage dumped near Tammadikunta lake by HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection).
He also emphasized the need for immediate removal of silt that accumulates rapidly during downpours. Officials were told to stay on high alert and ensure flood mitigation efforts are in place to prevent traffic snarls.
